Connecting 10,000+ Muslims in the Bay Area with their masjid. A native mobile experience designed for spiritual connection, community engagement, and seamless giving.
MCC East Bay serves over 10,000 Muslims in the Tri-Valley area, but had no unified way to communicate with their community digitally. Critical announcements—from Eid moon sightings to emergency fundraisers—relied on fragmented WhatsApp groups, email blasts that went unread, and outdated website updates.
The masjid needed a solution that would feel native to how their community already lives: on their phones, expecting real-time updates, and wanting a personal connection to their place of worship.
Critical announcements scattered across WhatsApp, email, and social media. Important updates often missed by community members.
Community members had no single source of truth for prayer times, events, Jumu'ah schedules, and masjid programs.
Giving was limited to in-person or navigating a complex web donation flow. Zakat, Sadaqa, and Ramadan giving were cumbersome.
We designed and built a native mobile experience that puts MCC East Bay in every community member's pocket. More than just an information app—it's a spiritual companion that adapts to the rhythm of Islamic life.
From accurate prayer times that update with the sun, to a Ramadan hub that counts down to Iftar, to one-tap donations for Zakat—every feature was crafted with deep understanding of how Muslims engage with their faith daily.
We launched the app just before Ramadan 2026—perfect timing for the community's most engaged month. The Ramadan Hub became the centerpiece: daily reflections, live Iftar countdowns, Taraweeh schedules with recitation details, and special Laylatul Qadr guidance for the last ten nights.
MCC East Bay hosts multiple Jumu'ah prayers across different locations. We built a dedicated Friday tab showing all sessions—khutbah times, prayer times, speakers, locations with driving directions, and even past recordings.
Community members can see at a glance which Jumu'ah fits their schedule, who's speaking, and navigate directly to the venue.
From youth halaqas to family events, sister's programs to book clubs—the Events tab surfaces everything happening at MCC. Smart categorization helps members find programs relevant to them, while save functionality lets them build a personal calendar.
Real event images from the masjid's actual flyers create visual recognition and connection to the physical community space.
We reimagined the donation experience around how Muslims actually give. Distinct categories for Sadaqa, Zakat, Building Expansion, Ramadan Expenses, and more—each with clear descriptions so donors know exactly where their contribution goes.
Every community member gets a personal profile tracking their engagement: events attended, donations made, and pledges fulfilled. Admins can send targeted announcements, manage Friday prayer schedules, and track community growth.
The app remembers preferences—showing sisters-specific programs to sisters, surfacing relevant youth events for families—creating a personalized experience within the broader community.
During the most blessed nights of Ramadan, we introduced pledge functionality. Community members could commit to giving across all ten nights, with the app sending gentle reminders and tracking fulfillment.
The emotional design—"Your Masjid Needs You," crescent moon iconography, and spiritual messaging—created urgency while respecting the sacred nature of the giving.
"The app launched right before Ramadan and became essential for our community overnight. Members finally have one place for prayer times, events, and giving. It's transformed how we connect."
Deep dive into MCC's operations, community pain points, and spiritual rhythms. Understanding how Muslims engage with their masjid daily.
Crafting a warm, Islamic-inspired visual language. Gold accents, crescent motifs, and typography that feels reverent yet modern.
Native iOS and Android apps built for performance. Real-time prayer times, push notifications, and seamless Kindful donation integration.
Strategic release before Ramadan 2026. Community marketing, QR codes in the masjid, and word-of-mouth drove 1,000+ downloads in week one.
The MCC East Bay app became the default way community members engage with their masjid. Moon sighting announcements reach everyone instantly. Eid prayers fill to capacity with advance notice. Ramadan donations flow seamlessly. And families stay connected to programs that matter to them.
More than an app—it's now infrastructure for a 10,000+ member community.
